Equipment

  • Loaf Pan
  • Skillet

Ingredients

Meatloaf Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Creamy Mushroom Gravy

  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line or grease a loaf pan to prevent sticking.
  • Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, ketchup, onion, eggs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix gently to avoid a dense texture.
  • Press the mixture into the loaf pan. Bake for 45–50 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  • While the meatloaf bakes, sauté mushrooms in butter or oil until browned. Add garlic or thyme if desired. Pour in heavy cream and simmer until thickened by 25–30%.
  • Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Spoon warm mushroom gravy over each slice and serve.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey and use half-and-half. Add herbs like thyme or parsley to deepen flavor.
